Hey everyone, just dropping a quick summary for anyone trying to decide between these two.
Unmanaged VPS: You get a blank server and root access. It’s way cheaper, but you are the sysadmin. If the server crashes or needs security patches, you have to fix it yourself via the command line.
Managed VPS: The hosting company acts as your IT team. They handle the setup, maintenance, and usually include a panel like cPanel or DirectAdmin. It costs a bit more, but if something breaks, you just open a ticket and they handle it.
Basically: if you know Linux and want to save cash, go unmanaged. If you just want to run your sites without server headaches, go managed.
What's everyone here running right now? Do you manage your own boxes or pay for the support?
